How to Dry Rose Petals
Dry rose petals by spreading them in a single layer out of direct sun until crisp, or speed it up in a low oven or dehydrator. Pick fragrant, unblemished petals and store the dried petals in an airtight jar.
Drying rose petals preserves their color and scent for potpourri, tea, or crafts. Pick fragrant, blemish-free petals from pesticide-free roses on a dry day, ideally just as the blooms fully open. Spread them in a single layer on a screen or paper in a warm, airy spot out of direct sunlight, turning occasionally, until they are papery and crisp — usually several days to a week.
To speed things up, use a food dehydrator on low or an oven at its lowest setting with the door ajar, watching closely so they do not scorch. Store fully dried petals in an airtight jar away from light and moisture.
