Are Coffee Grounds Good for Roses
Used coffee grounds can benefit roses in moderation — they add a little nitrogen and organic matter — but use them sparingly and composted, since fresh grounds in quantity can harm the soil.
Used coffee grounds contain small amounts of nitrogen and improve soil structure as they break down. Sprinkled thinly around a rose and scratched in, or added to the compost pile, they are a mild, useful amendment.
Moderation matters: piling on fresh grounds can compact, mildew, and temporarily tie up nitrogen as they decompose. Treat them as one minor ingredient in a balanced feeding program, not a substitute for proper rose fertilizer.
